Cheesemaking Kit- Tomme

Tommes are a type of cheese typically made in the French Alps and Switzerland. We like tommes because they're one of the easier types of hard cheese to make and are therefore a wonderful hard cheese for a beginner. Tommes are hardy enough to allow for some errors during the aging process, unlike a finicky cheddar. Tommes can be made from cow's, ewe's, or goat's milk. This kit is a great value and provides you with all the ingredients you need to start making this delicious cheese in your home!

Kit Contents:

  • Direct-set culture packet: MA 4001 or MA 4002
  • 2.2lb short tomme mold
  • 2 yard x 1 yard fine cheesecloth
  • Small thermometer
  • Bamboo draining mat
  • 1 oz. vegetarian rennet
  • 8 oz. cheese salt
